Ann Chen holds a Master of Music degree and Performer’s Certificate in piano performance from Northern Illinois University under Dr. William Goldenberg. Currently, Ann is a piano instructor at Northern Illinois University Community School of the Arts and church accompanist in Dekalb.
Growing up in Taiwan, Ann started taking piano lessons at age five and has received several piano examination certificates including the one from ABRASM, YAMAHA, and KAWAI. Ann graduated from Chinese Culture University in Taiwan with a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree. During her time in Taiwan, Ann not only served as a piano teacher at YAMAHA Music School and professional music schools (middle school and high school) for years, but also ran her private piano studio with the student levels varying from elementary school to college and adults. She also hosted student recitals each semester.
Ann’s teaching philosophy is to help a student develop into a well-rounded musician, and build a lifelong love of music.
